Things that make you go ... "Huh?"

Just some of those things that make you wonder about feng shui, the advertising that feng shui practitioners invent for themselves, and the state of the world.

Why do most feng shui practitioners avoid mentioning global warming — or mention it only in passing?

You can count on one hand the feng shui practitioners who acknowledge that global warming exists, or have any idea how feng shui could play a role in getting us out of this mess.

And the list is even shorter of feng shui practitioners who provide free advice on what feng shui you can implement to help fight climate change.

If you want to have a little fun, email a few and ask them to explain some feng shui practices that combat global warming. This is especially fun with McFengshui people.

How is it possible that feng shui practitioners never make mistakes?

They are human and humans are error-prone. So why don’t feng shui practitioners acknowledge their mistakes in analyzing properties and structures? (Not acknowledging mistakes indicates that a belief system — not a science — is being used.)

Not all of us can be outstanding in our field. Most of us are out standing in our fields.

Be cynical enough to read feng shui marketing on websites and spot the obvious marketing ploys.

Is there an inverse proportion between the amount of feng shui information on a website and the number of clichéd photographs and artwork?

That is, do you find that for every photo of a luopan you get substantially less information from a website — or more hackneyed information you can pull off a dozen clone websites?
