Which element?

diadiii asks:

Question

How do i know which element to follow, I am both wood and metal? Born in 1974

Answer

The different computations and their uses often baffle people:

  • You have a ming gua, which is basically an element interpreted as a direction. In your case you are a West Group, and west is considered the strongest direction for the year you were born in. (This information is useful for Bazhai.)
  • You were born in a Wood Tiger year. The designation of the year is a calendrical computation using a base 60 system known as ganzhi (Stems and Branches).
  • You have a Bazi (Four Pillars) designation, based on date, time, etc. This can be used in feng shui.

Knowing your ming gua, your birth year, and your Bazi are useful only if you have the expertise to interpret the information, or you hired someone to do this for you.
